Typhoon Haiyan

Last Friday, Typhoon Haiyan decimated part of the Phillipines.  The storm is one of the most powerful in recorded history.  There are 1774 confirmed dead but estimates are over 10,000.  Countless more have been left homeless and displaced.  The devastation is so horrendous, people are walking down the streets covering their nose and mouth because of the smell of rotting corpses.

Efforts are underway to assist people but there is still much that can be done to help the survivors.  The staff at Tumblr posted this:

“To all our friends and family in the Philippines, our hearts and thoughts are with you — and we want to make sure you’re aware of the online resources to find loved ones or request rescue.

To everyone else, please help those desperate for clean water and food by donating to the UN World Food Programme:

  • USA: Text AID to 27722 to donate $10
  • UK: Text AID to 70303 to donate £3
  • Canada: Text RELIEF to 45678 to donate $5
  • Donate online “

Here in the United States, we know of the destruction of powerful storms.  Hurricane Katrina & Superstorm Sandy, to name a few.  Please help if you are able.
